STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION FOR PROPOSED ELECTRICITY TARIFF REVISION OF CEB

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has proposed an electricity tariff revision to recover its increase in costs.

CEB states that due to following issues occurred subsequent to previous tariff reduction, an increase in CEB costs is estimated for period July- December 2023. The main issues are:

  1. Reduction in hydro inflow
  2. Reduction in coal generation
  3. Increased electricity demand

Further the office of Cabinet of ministers has conveyed the decision of the Cabinet to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), among other things, to;

  1. To urgently consider the submission by CEB based on the cost reflective tariff methodology.
  2. Advance the tariff revision scheduled for January 2024 to October 2023 to recover all costs.

Therefore, PUCSL seek the opinion of stakeholder for the tariff proposal of the CEB given below.
