The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (the Commission) is the economic, technical and safety regulator of the electricity industry in Sri Lanka. As the electricity regulator, protection of the interests of consumers is one of prime objectives of the Commission. The Commission has established a Consumer Consultative Committee (the CCC) to advice the Commission on protection of consumer interest.

The provincial member position of Northern Province of the CCC will become vacant and the applications are called from permanent residents in the Northern Province, who are keen in consumer protection and are willing to be appointed as a member of the CCC.

 The applicants should possess the following attributes:

  • less than 65 years of age, as at the date of this notice;
  • proven interest in community/social service (preferably in consumerism);
  • working knowledge in English language is preferable, in addition to Sinhala and Tamil languages

 Every application shall be accompanied with:

  • a brief essay (not more than 500 words) on ‘Consumer Protection in Sri Lanka
  • a certificate of residence issued by the Grama Niladhari
  • a certificate of character issued by a civil society leader in the area

Application should be submitted to reach the Commission on or before 25/02/2020. “Member -Consumer Consultative Committee (Northern Province)” should be indicated on the top left corner of the envelope.
