STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION
STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (Commission) hereby notifies its decision to hold a Stakeholder Consultation on following potential regulatory changes. These changes are aimed to enhance solar energy production by addressing the issue of inverter tripping caused by grid-overvoltage in low voltage (LV) distribution lines.

  • Implementing voltage quality response modes (volt-var, volt-watt) in the inverters of grid-connected (low voltage) rooftop solar PV systems. (as the first approach).
  • Relaxing the statutory voltage limits of low voltage electricity up to 230V ±10% (as the next approach if the voltage issues persist even after the first approach).

The stakeholders and general public are hereby invited to submit written submissions if any on the impacts or any issues or information connected with the proposed potential regulatory changes.

This Stakeholder Consultation is held under and by virtue of powers vested with the Commission under Section 17 of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act No 35 of 2002.
