The Ministry of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development has prepared a draft national policy on natural gas with a view to:

facilitate the exploration and production of natural gas, importation and exportation of Liquefied Natural Gas and utilization of natural gas as an energy source and raw material; and
establish the legal, regulatory and institutional framework for the natural gas industry in Sri Lanka.

The draft national policy on natural gas is available on the websites of the Ministry of Highways & Road Development and Petroleum Resources Development and of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (Commission) for reference. Comments on the same are invited from stakeholders and the general public in writing on or before 25^th March 2019. Written comments may be submitted to the Commission via email, facsimile or post.

The oral submission of comments will be entertained on Thursday 28^thMarch 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Cinema Lounge of the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall.
