NOTICE UNDER SECTION 21(2) OF
THE SRI LANKA ELECTRICITY ACT, NO. 20 OF 2009
INTENTION TO GRANT EXEMPTION (CATEGORICAL EXEMPTION)
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (“the Commission”) hereby gives notice pursuant to Section 21(2) of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No.20 of 2009 that the Commission intends to grant a categorical exemption (exemption from the requirement of obtaining a license to generate electricity) for the entities as described below, considering their nature of small scale power generation by a large number of generation plants which are geographically distributed around the country, for the purpose of generating electricity in order to ensure the availability and continuity of the supply of electricity to the consumers.
