Assistant Director – Legal (01 position – On contract)

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) was established by the Act No. 35 of 2002 as a multi-sector infrastructure regulator in the country. With the enactment of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009, PUCSL became the economic, safety and technical regulator of the Electricity industry.
PUCSL seeks dynamic and result-oriented professionals to fill the following position.
Assistant Director – Legal (01 position – On contract)
Qualifications
- Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka and Notary Public with the license to practice in both Sinhala and English languages.
Experience
- Should possess a minimum of three (03) years of experience in handling all types of legal work including drafting legal documents, contracts, agreements, and litigation.
- Familiarity in dispute resolution and arbitration procedures
- Working in a regulatory environment will be an added advantage.

Job Role
- Attend to cases filed against the Commission and to be filed by the Commission in Courts, collate information, prepare briefs for legal counsel, attend consultations, and appear in courts or other forums on behalf of the Commission.
- Offer advice and guidance to the internal departments of the Commission on all legal matters
- Draft, and review all types of legal documents, contracts, agreements and other contractual documents
- Draft, review, and/or recommend modifications to the laws and regulations governing the Commission
- Maintaining registers and records as required
