The Commission approves and regulates the implementation of guidelines developed by the licensees in respect of matters required or authorized by the Electricity Act and licenses issued by the Commission. Several provisions of the Electricity Act and licenses issued by the Commission require that guidelines be developed, approved and implemented for the purposes set out therein.
Guidelines for the Prosecution of Persons-CEB & LECO
These guidelines are provided for the establishment of an effective and transparent mechanism by the Licensees to carry out bulk supply transactions for implementation of a Tariff Regime in accordance with the Decision Document on Electricity Tariff-2011, issued by the Commission.
Tariff guidelines for distributors other than CEB and LECO
In terms of Section 30 of Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No. 20 of 2009, prior to tariff revisions, the Distributionlicensees/exempted parties other than CEB and LECO are supposed to obtain approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka. Due to the relatively small size of their operations, a simplified tariff revision procedure is to be implemented.
