Opportunities to represent the Western, North Central and Northern Provinces in Consumer Consultative Committee (CCC)

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (the Commission) is the economic, technical and safety regulator of the electricity industry and designated regulator for water services and downstream petroleum industries in Sri Lanka. Consumer protection in industries regulated by the Commission is one of its prime objectives. The Commission has established a Consumer Consultative Committee (the CCC) to advice the commission on appropriate standards to be prescribed, monitor whether the needs of consumers are being satisfied and promote awareness among consumers. There will be an opportunity and applications are called for one qualified candidate to work for consumer interest in industries regulated by the Commission in Western, North Central and Northern Provinces. No regular compensation is provided to CCC members; however, travelling and sitting allowances will be paid for their participation in the Commission’s monthly meetings. 

Applicants require.

  • less than 65 years of age, as at the date of this notice
  • a permanent resident in the representing province.
  • a proven track record of working / volunteering in community / social services within the representing province
  • ability to work in English is preferable, in addition to Sinhala or Tamil languages.

Application shall be accompanied with:

  • resume (including experience gained in working with community/ social services movements)
  • a brief essay on how he/she intends to make use of the opportunity for betterment of the consumers in the respective province (not more than 500 words)
  • a certificate of residence issued by the Grama Niladhari
  • a certificate of character issued by a civil society leader in the area.
