SUPPLY QUALITY

The Electricity (Distribution) Performance Standards Regulation requires that the performance of a distribution system, specifically regarding supply quality, be measured, recorded, monitored, and evaluated using standardized performance indices. The following indices are used to assess overall system performance:
  1. System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI): The total number of sustained customer power interruptions in a given period, divided by the total number of customers served during the same period.

  2. System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI): The total duration of sustained customer power interruptions in a given period, divided by the total number of customers served during the same period.

  3. Estimated Energy Not Supplied (EENS): An estimate of the energy that was not supplied to customers due to interruptions during a specified period.

  4. Momentary Average Interruptions Frequency Index (MAIFI): The total number of momentary customer power interruptions within a given period, divided by the total number of tariff customers served during the same period.

These indices measure the distribution system’s ability to provide electricity to customers with a consistent level of quality and continuity.
