Statement of Rights and Obligations of Electricity Consumers
In terms of Sri Lanka Electricity Act No 20 of 2009 (the Act) the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (the Commission) is responsible for safeguarding the electricity consumers’ rights. The Section 3 of the Act requires the Commission to issue a Statement of Rights and Obligations of the Electricity Consumers.
This statement, setting out the Rights and Obligations of electricity consumers, was compiled after consultation with transmission and distribution licensees (Ceylon Electricity Board and Lanka Electricity Company Private Ltd). The approved statement by the Commission was published, which effect from 01 January 2015.
The Copies of the statement are now available for reference for consumers at the Area Engineers/Branch Managers offices of Ceylon Electricity Board/ Lanka Electricity Company Private Ltd and their customer service centers. Also the Commission has planned to distribute the copies of the statement to all Divisional Secretariats and Grama Nildhari Offices. This statement is available in the websites of the Commission (www.pucsl.gov.lk), Ceylon Electricity Board (www.ceb.lk) and Lanka Electricity Company (Private) Limited (www.leco.lk).
